Improving smiles one exercise at a time.
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Think of physical therapy for the mouth, face, lips and tongue to improve breathing, sleeping, chewing, swallowing, speech, orthodontic relapse and even jaw pain.
Understanding Orofacial
Myofunctional Therapy (OMT)
Myofunctional Therapy
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is an exercised-based program used to retrain muscle patterns and restore a normal resting posture of the tongue, lips and jaw. By strengthening weak muscles, learning proper function and making behaviour modifications, improvements can be seen through breathing, speaking, chewing and swallowing.
Myofunctional Disorders
Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD's) are disorders of the muscles and functions of the mouth and face. They present when there is an abnormal lip, jaw, or tongue position during rest, swallowing or speech. OMD's can affect breastfeeding, facial and skeletal growth/appearance, chewing, swallowing, speech, orthodontic treatment, jaw movement, sleep and much more.
Why do I need therapy?
The interaction between facial growth and muscle activity starts early on in our development and the functions of suction, chewing, swallowing, and nasal breathing in infancy plays an important role growth patterns. Myofunctional therapy can help improve breathing, sleep and facial appearance at any age!

Hi there,
I am an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist and Registered Dental Hygienist. I started my studies in the dental field back in 2011 and found a passion for Orofacial Myology in the Spring of 2020. I have always had an interest in health and wellness. Working as a Dental Hygienist has allowed me to see on a daily basis the connection between the body and our oral health.
As a myofunctional therapist, I now get to educate my patients on how oral dysfunction can impact our overall wellness.
