How it Works
Initial Assessment
All myofunctional therapy programs begin with an initial, comprehensive assessment. This assessment allows us to complete a detailed review of your health history and thoroughly discuss any symptoms so that we may address the root cause of the problem. During the assessment we also perform an exam of the oral and facial muscles to assess current function.
The initial assessment will allow us to determine which therapy program is best suited for your needs and if any referrals are needed to help you achieve the best results.
Activities
Myofunctional Therapy is all about re-programming and changing habits, behaviours and muscle patterns to improve the way you breathe, chew, swallow, speak and rest your tongue. Dedication and consistency are key to your success for lasting results, and we will be there every step of the way to help you succeed!
Investment
After an initial assessment, a treatment plan will be presented with an estimated treatment fee, treatment length and payment options that are available. The number of sessions can vary depending on your symptoms, severity of orofacial myofunctional disorders(OMD) present and your commitment.
Wondering if your benefits will cover therapy?
Each benefit plan is different is chosen by you and/or your employer. Myofunctional therapy may be included in plans as an eligible, covered service. We are happy to provide you with the procedure codes or a predetermination form at your initial assessment should you need to look into your coverage. Coverage can often be found in your Dental coverage under the Orthodontics section. During treatment, payment receipts and claim forms will be provided to you and may be submitted manually to your insurance provider.
Any portion not covered by benefits may be claimed as a tax deduction under the health expenses portion of income tax forms.
